What Personal Training Should Be

You are an individual and have the right be treated as such. You are unique. Your situation is unique. Your fitness program should be unique too.

What I Do:
Please think of our sessions together as more than "personal training." It's training to be prepared for anything and everything that comes your way in life. For instance, how does doing a 45 pound concentration curl help you in daily life? For most of us it DOESN'T! What I care about is:
  • if you can easily get up and down the stairs in your home. 
  • if you can walk the 2 miles to and from the nearest gas station if your car breaks down. 
  • if you can carry your groceries to the car, or carry your laundry basket.
  • if you can run to catch the train and not feel winded.
  • if you know how to safely lift something heavy.
  • if you feel stronger and more confident with each passing day. 
I care that the quality of your whole life improves.

I have experience and training in standard training methods as well as a host of other modalities that will result in all of the above.What that means to you is that you will rarely do the same workout twice. You will never get bored because we will constantly be moving and challenging your body in every way it possibly can be!

This is the kind of training I will do with you. Bigger muscles and a leaner physique are just fun benefits that go with the territory.

 My Ideal Clients:
Have you ever found yourself saying, "I am way to young to feel this old"? Do you want to be fitter but watch the advertisements on t.v. showing 20-somethings in sports bras bouncing around dance studios and think, "that is so not me"? Have you ever watched a strong man competition and thought, "I couldn't ever do that, but that looks so cool"? Let us find out what kind of exercise motivates you and makes you happy!
Whether you are 30 feeling 55 or 80 feeling 105, it is NOT too late to feel strong, vibrant and healthy. You will learn to have fun at a gym and soon everyone will be noticing the positive changes!
Individualized Programs:
I have been a personal trainer for over six years and have been designing unique fitness protocols for each and every client I have ever had. Everyone has different interests, goals and limitations. My clients have ranged from high school and college athletes right up to bad ass grand-mamas that are in search of their mojo. So whether you are looking to run a faster 5k time, to keep up with your children OR grand-children or just to be able to carry the groceries more easily, I can help you.

Exercise programs aren't a cookie-cutter kind of thing. There are lots of ways in which exercise can be done. As a trainer I don't personally enjoy instructing you how to do bicep curls, skull-crushers, or leg extensions on a machine. I don't enjoy them, so i won't make you do them either (unless you absolutely love them, in which case I can work them in) because I think there are a zillion better and more entertaining ways to work those same muscles! We will become a team as we work to achieve your fitness and improved well being TOGETHER.

Wacky Stuff:
Let's be honest. Some trainers are just down right wacky. Maybe you yourself has been a victim of wacky trainers? The one that stares at their self in the mirror while you're working out. The one that gives you the same workout as every other person they worked with today. The one that tells you all their problems or that keeps talking to OTHER people during your session. The one that never shows up on time or leaves early. Yup...there are some wacky trainers out there. Thankfully I'm not one of them.
I will design your program based on YOUR needs and desires. I even take the time to ask your what those are! All I ask in return is that you put the same effort into each of your workouts that I put into programming them. Remember, we are a team!

What Will Happen:
At some point along the way in our time together you will discover that you are an amazingly strong and confident person capable of greatness. Don't worry, this one just comes with the territory. All you have to do is show up and do the work to the best of your ability!
